Rapsri is one of the few companies worldwide that has the technology to cast copper and short freezing range copper alloys by the permanent mould process which is also known as the gravity die casting process. According to available information, Rapsri is one of two inventors of this technology for copper and copper alloys- having developed this process in the late 1970s.

 

Rapsri manufactures castings of near net shape with minimal machining and smooth surface finish in the following broad materials:

High Conductivity Copper Castings and High Strength Copper Castings

High conductivity copper castings are typically used in critical electrical applications where heat rise and electrical conductivity are functional requirements. Castings made by this process have higher density and are cost effective substitutes for sand castings requiring extensive machining.
Permanent mould copper castings can substitute shaped forgings, extruded profiles and thick section bars/flats/ rounds that are brazed or fabricated into assemblies to achieve cost reduction and performance enhancement.

Aluminum Bronzes and High Tensile Brass Castings

These castings are typically used in a wide range of applications where a combination of high structural strength, corrosion resistance and non-magnetic properties are functional requirements. Castings made by this process have higher density and are cost effective substitutes for sand castings requiring extensive machining.
 Permanent mould bronze and brass castings can substitute complex multi part assemblies made from steel fabrications requiring extensive welding, riveting and labour to achieve cost reduction, productivity improvement and performance enhancement. These castings have better wear properties and similar tensile and yield properties as medium alloyed steels.

Specialty Alloys

Apart from aluminum bronze and brass permanent mold castings, Rapsri has the capability of manufacturing permanent mold casting of various zinc-aluminum alloys.
