Our legacy
RAPSRI derives its name from the founders RAPadmanathan and SRInivas and SRIram. We started commercial operations in 1971 as a bronze foundry and machine shop in a small shed. We have since become one of the largest copper / brass / bronze components manufacturers in India. Our foundry, machine shop, plating shop, brazing unit and assembly center operates out of a 200,000 sq.ft. modern integrated manufacturing facility. We are a proudly third generation family owned and professionally managed business.
1971
- Set up foundry and machine shop to localize bronze bushings imported from USA and Europe. Focused on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) sales
- Manufactured by shell moulding process, a competitive edge over companies still using green sand moulding process
1980
- Diversified into high conductivity copper castings to localize the growing imports by the energy sector from USA and Europe
- Developed gravity die casting / permanent mould chill casting and continuous casting processes
1990
- Certified by TUV for ISO 9001 - the first Indian foundry to receive certification
- Modernized the manufacturing operations with high technology induction melting and CNC machining
2000
- Established sales and warehousing partnerships in USA, UK and EU to emerge as a global player. Comforts of local sourcing and the advantages of global sourcing
- Commercialized RB031 the lead free bearing alloy and R0 the 98% IACS high conductivity copper
2010
- Integrated three manufacturing plants in different locations into one modern manufacturing plant
- Rationalized production processes by focusing on permanent mould chill cast (gravity die) and continuous castings
2020
- Commitment to value addition (brazing, assembly) and value engineering
- Related diversification by product line extensions
- Unrelated diversification by strategic partnerships to drive growth
- Practice Lean and TPM to drive profitability
